Welcome to TVCurated.com
So in your hand is the DVD of the first season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". Or "Fringe", or "The X-Files", or some other expired/still-running TV series that you want to get into, if you can only get past the crappy episodes. Because even the best series have self-contained and ultimately-skippable (e.g. "Monsters of the Week") episodes.
Not a problem; at TVCurated.com, the episodes of a TV series are curated for you. Seasons are curated with a focus on how much they contribute to the season's overarching storyline, which is less subjective than simply rating an episode's quality.
Each television on 'TVCurated.com features an easy-to-read, minimal-spoiler episode guide. Example:
| Season | Episode | Name | Synopsis | Watch or Skip | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | 1 | Anne | While Buffy has run away, the others take over slaying. | Up To You | Lets you know what Buffy did over the summer, which is ultimately not important season-wise, but introduces "Lily", who later becomes a minor recurring character in Angel. |
Watch, Skip, or Up To You?
All episodes are listed as one of these three categories:
| Watch | By skipping' this episode's events, you'll probably be confused. The green episodes are the bare-minimum number of episodes that you'd need to watch to understand what's going on in later episodes. |
|---|---|
| Skip | You can skip this episode without missing any real advancement in story arc or character as it's mostly a self-contained "Monster of the Week" episode. Any minor developments are in the "Why?" column. |
| Up To You | This episode advances the season's plot or character relationships somewhat. But you'll get along fine if you skip it because you're
a) uninterested in this season's arc, b) bored by recent episodes, or c) just want to hurry up and get to a better season. |
The short of it is, start with the Green and Yellow episodes. If you get frustrated, just watch the Green episodes until you start enjoying it. If you're really loving everything, feel free to also watch the Red episodes (which are always easy to go back to).
